Here's introducing Seb! 

Sam and I collected him from TIA Greyhound Rescue the day we moved to Kendal 3 weeks ago.  He's settling in really well (currently asleep in his bed next to me dreaming/running horizontally) and seems really happy to have a home. 

Until Deb who runs TIA saved Seb from a pound in Doncaster he had been a stray, dumped by his trainer when he stopped performing on the race track.  As a result he had a severe case of mange and some of his teeth had gone bad.  He's covered in little scars and bald patches and is missing the tip of his tail, poor little fella.  Deb got him clear of the mange and had the bad teeth removed.  He then spent 7 months at the TIA kennels awaiting a new home.  Being plain black he was overlooked alongside many other black greyhounds, people tend to pick the 'fancier' looking dogs. 

Me and Sam took Seb for a walk one Sunday in May and he kept leaning on Sam's leg so he'd stroke him- we were sold!  He's a very affectionate and playful boy, 5 years old, loves a tummy rub and going for walks.  How anyone could abandon him I really don't know, no way to repay a creature that was raced for money.  From now on he will be treated like a king and have lots of walks around Kendal and lake Windermere and lots of roast chicken- his favourite!

I've just listed a little zine I made about Eli, my lovely old greyhound friend who we sadly lost in February.  Its a mini A7 zine, fully screen printed, the same format as a few others I made recently.  Available now in my Etsy shop

Day 2 of the screen printing workshop I taught at the Bowery Leeds 11th & 12 May 2013

I've spent the last three days selling my wares at Saltaire Arts Trail Makers Fair.  I've been busy preparing new work for this over the last couple of months and it finally arrived!  

Now the fair is over its time to pack up my house!  Me and my chap Sam are moving to Kendal on Thursday.  Sam has an exciting new job and I am finally going full time with Memo and setting up a screen print workshop at home.  I've been working towards this since I graduated in 2007.  A little bit more preparation and I'll be up and running towards the end of June, so excited!

Also above are a few photos from a two day screen printing workshop I taught at the Bowery in Leeds on the 11th & 12th May.  We spent a day printing onto paper- notecards, gift wrap, tags and gift boxes.  Then a day printing onto fabric- t shirts and tote bags.  I won't be leading many more classes at the Bowery due to moving away, just one more screen print workshop on Saturday 23rd November.

I have new work I need to photograph, this will be one of my first tasks when I've unpacked at the new house.  News from Kendal soon!

Drawing & Illustration evening class

Here's a few images from the Drawing & Illustration class I taught at the Bowery in Leeds last night.  We looked at birds and animals and had a go at drawing them in a variety of styles.  There were some great results!  This is the last of the evening classes I will be teaching for now.

The next workshop I am leading is a two day screen printing class, again at the Bowery in Leeds on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th May.  It will involve printing onto both paper and fabric, greetings cards and tote bags!  More information about that class is available here.

Here's a few new items I just added to my Etsy shop.  Mini zines and postcards, all hand screen printed.  Lots more on the way, I'm off to my print workshop now to get on with it!

I am conscious its been a while since I updated my blog.  This is not because I have nothing to tell, I have plenty on the go!  Lots of work in progress, new products, branding, lesson planning, and a potential move from Leeds on the horizon!

Lots going on that's for sure.

Here's a little glimpse of one of my new pattern themed products, almost fully screen printed now.  More about new products soon.

For now I'd like to share a link to a day dedicated to traditional print making methods taking place next week on Wednesday 24th April.  Small Town Ink will be held at Leeds University from 10:30am-5pm, lots of prints on display and talks alongside a little print market.  I'll be there with a selection of printed products.  Come down and say hi!
