Hell is Hot

Here's a little step-by-step of a batch of t shirts I recently designed and screen printed for Mike of Survivor Customs hot rods.  I do enjoy drawing a logo!

Alongside a lot of screen printing I've been busy with Christmas orders and selling at various markets.  This Saturday coming I'll be in Sleaford at the National Centre of Craft & Design for their 'Gifted 12' Christmas market.  More fairs you can find me at are listed on the right hand side of the blog.

October was a month spent screen printing!
First off I should probably apologise to my blog for neglecting him a bit lately.  The last couple of months have been totally hectic in the run up to the festive season.  I've screen printed mountains of stock and a range of new products for the coming months.

I'll be selling my wares at a number of events in November and December, dates for these are listed on the right hand side of the blog.  The next events for me will be the Artsmix at Albion Place market on Saturday 17th November followed by Thought Bubble Comic Convention on Sunday 18thI'll be in the New Dock Hall.

I have a couple of new products to unveil next week and new zines ready for Though Bubble.  More about those soon!

Chimera bicycle logo

In the spring of this year a new bicycle came about at Woodrup Cycles in Leeds:  the 'Chimera'.  I designed the logo for the bike which is applied to each frame as a vinyl transfer.   I've finally gotten round to getting a few photos of one these super hand built frames!

Zine Making workshop at WYPW

A zine I made about zines!

My own personal zine library- on hand to provide a bit of inspiration

A selection of materials I provided for the workshop
Here's a few images from the Zine Making workshop I led at West Yorkshire Print Workshop last weekend (thanks to Patrick for the images).  Lots of exciting collage work took place and there were some interesting zine themes floating around!  I'll keep you posted with news of further classes that I'll be teaching later in the year.

Kendal Calling!

Last weekend I had a stall at Kendal Calling festival alongside Rowan of Kitschensink Jewellery and Becky of Reetsweet.  Selling at a festival for the first time it was fun but also a lot of hard work!  Thankfully we had a lot of sunshine (let's forget about the rain!), good food and lots of friendly festival goers to chat to. More festivals for Memo?  Yes! Let's see what 2013 brings...

A Tropical Kitsch trio!

Here's introducing two new greetings cards 'Flamingo' and 'Cocktail', both available individually from my Etsy shop, and as part of a 'Tropical Kitsch Trio' with my 'Parrot' card design.  Its a bit of a tongue twister but catchy all the same!

Today its lovely and sunny in Leeds. This is the first time I've said good things about the weather in what feels like weeks.  These new card designs are inspired by the summer and sun and contents of my 1960s boat bar.  My ongoing collection of kitsch cocktail memorabilia is forever increasing in size... Later this week I'll have a new limited edition screen print to unveil also inspired by the collection.  I'll say bye for now, I'm off to enjoy a Tom Collins while its sunny!

Here's a new zine! This one is a little book of illustrations put together by Karoline Rerrie, featuring lots of super lady illustrators based in the UK.  I've done the cover design for this one featuring my chosen endangered species:  African wild dogs.  Such beautiful animals, the markings on their fur are amazing.

Endangered Species zine has 24 pages, its a limited edition of 175, the cover is screen printed and the pages litho printed onto recycled paper.  Available from my etsy shop now!

White Elephants giveaway!

Last year my good friend Katie Haegele asked me to illustrate the cover of a book she was writing...  well here is the finished product!  Published by the awesome Microcosm Publishing in Portland Oregon 'White Elephants' is about yard sales that Katie visited with her Mum and good things they came across, alongside matters of life including the odd bit of romance. Katie and I both share a passion for secondhand treasure, namely the finding of the treasure.  In fact I think that's how our friendship began actually.

To celebrate the release of Katie's book (and my first ever book cover illustration) I thought I'd give a copy of White Elephants to one lucky blog follower.  All you need to do is tell me about your favourite thrifty find.  Where did you find it?  What makes it such a special catch?  Leave a comment on this post before 9th May and I'll pick a winner at random and send that lucky someone a copy of White Elephants with a few little Memo treats thrown in too.

A little glimpse of the hot pink inside covers that feature my drawings...
And here is a few of my most recent good finds.  There is definitely a bit of a cup theme going on!

Go on then, tell me about your favourite thrifty find, you could bag yourself some postal goodies!
